Zomato delivery case: Parineeti Chopra urges Zomato to find ‘truth’, ‘penalise the woman’
On late Saturday night, bollywood actress Parineeti Chopra took to social media and made an appeal with food delivery service Zomato. Chopra had asked Zomato to find out the truth in the assault accusations against their delivery executive and punish the culprit.
Few days back, a model-turned-makeup artiste, Hitesha Chandranee accused a Zomato delivery executive of assaulting her which left her nose bleeding. However, the Zomato executive has declined all the allegations made against him. Actress Parineeti Chopra has stepped up and requested the truth and asked Zomato if she can help them in any way.
On Saturday, Parineeti wrote on the micro blogging site, “Zomato India – PLEASE find and publicly report the truth.. If the gentleman is innocent (and I believe he is), PLEASE help us penalise the woman in question. This is inhuman, shameful and heartbreaking .. Please let me know how I can help.. #ZomatoDeliveryGuy.”

Chopra also reshared Viral Bhayani’s post on Instagram in connection with the same case.
On Tuesday, a video of a Bengaluru make-up artist named Hitesha Chandranee went viral on social media. The woman in the video was seen with a bloody injury on her nose. In the video, she narrated the whole incident behind the injury and accused a Zomato delivery executive for hitting her while she was speaking to Zomato customer care regarding the late order. Many people supported her and few hours later, the delivery guy identified as Kamaraj was arrested by the Bengaluru police.
Zomato also apologised for the same and said that Kamaraj was delisted from the platform. The company also covered Hitesha’s medical expenses.
However, Kamaraj had another narrative for the incident. He said, “She refused to pay after accepting the order as I was late for the delivery and asked it for free. She started hitting me with slippers and at some point in time while safeguarding myself, my left hand touched her right hand and the ring which she worn hit her nose and it started bleeding.”
He further added, “I don’t want to make it more complicated, let the truth win. If not, I will fight it legally. I have a mother with co-morbid conditions, my father died 15 years back, I am the only breadwinner for my family. I am working in Zomato for the past 26 months with 4.7 ratings. As of now, the company has blocked my ID until this case completes and assured of taking it back once the matter resolves.”
After the statements made by Kamaraj were released, internet is divided on support. Now the netizens are demanding the respective authorities to find the truth so that an innocent man doesn’t get punished.
Zomato’s co-founder Deepinder Goyal highlighted that Kamaraj has made around 5,000 deliveries for Zomato so far. He has 4.75/5 star rating on the platform – which is one of the highest.
On Thursday, Kamaraj was granted conditional bail.
