Sonali Bendre and other Celebrities on World Cancer Day
On World Cancer Day, Bollywood actress Sonali Bendre took to social media to share a video in which she can be heard about her journey after being diagnosed with cancer. Sonali Bendre has been a source of inspiration for many who are battling cancer.
The actress, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2018, fought the deadly disease and came out as a winner. On World Cancer Day, Sonali took to social media to share a video in which she talks about how cancer has changed her life. She says that the disease taught her to look for the light at the end of the tunnel.
Through the video, Sonali Bendre talks about how in the past two years she found her new normal. Sharing the video on social media, the actress wrote, “Note to self. P.S. For the rest of you, listen to your body and go for regular check-ups, early detection helps!”
In the video, she can be heard saying, “Change is the only constant in life and how life has changed. It’s been almost two years. These two years have taught me many lessons. Gave me the patience to look for the light at the end of the tunnel. In this, I found my new normal and the strength to switch on the sunshine every day. The journey of knowing who I am reminds me that I am much more than this. For all of us going through this, let’s remind us that cancer doesn’t define us.”
Sonali spent months in New York before returning to India fully cured. She came back in December 2018 and has been recovering well since then. She is often seen at film events and at parties with friends.
Tahira Kashyap, who is an Indian writer, Theatre Director, wife of Ayushmann Khurrana also a cancer survivor, commented on Sonali’s post on Instagram. She wrote, “You gorgeous, courageous you. Inspiration to so many including me! Thanks for being you!”
Another Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala ‘Dil Se’ actress was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2012. Post which, she took a break from work and successfully fought with the deadly disease. Five years later, she made her Bollywood comeback with the 2017 film ‘Dear Maya’. Manisha has also written a book titled “Healed: How Cancer Gave Me a New Life”.
‘The Lunchbox’ actor Irrfan Khan also fought with cancer. In March 2018, the ‘Hindi Medium’ actor revealed on social media that he was suffering from a rare tumor. Post which, he took a break from work and was stationed in London where he underwent treatment for neuroendocrine cancer. After treatment, he finally returned to India in February 2019. He’s now set to make his Bollywood comeback with upcoming film ‘Angrezi Medium’ co-starring Kareena Kapoor & Radhika Madan.
