Rajiv Bansal appointed as Secretary for the Ministry of Civil Aviation
Rajiv Bansal Chairperson and Managing Director of Air India has been appointed as the new Secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation on 22 September, Wednesday. The current Secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation Pradeep Singh Kharola will retire from his term in office on 30TH September and will be replaced by Rajiv Bansal.
Rajiv Bansal has been elected as the chairperson and Managing Director for Air India two times in a row last year in February. Just a few days ago, the Government had announced a 100 percent sale of stake for Air India who was in debt for a long time.
Before they appointed Rajiv Bansal as the chairperson and Managing Director of Air India, he served under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas as the secretary.
Among his list of achievements comes the selection as an IAS officer in the bath of 1988 and was serving in the Nagaland cadre. He has also provided his service under the Ministry of Information Technology and electronics, where his duty was to see over the digital payments and additional duties involve Aadhaar and secure internet governance.
He has also served as a joint secretary under the department of Heavy Industries, and under the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) as their secretary.
By profession, he is a civil engineer and has completed his graduation from Delhi’s IIT in 1986 and holds a diploma certificate from Hyderabad’s ICFAI in finance, also a master’s degree from New Delhi’s IIFT in international business.
