PM Modi flags off 8 trains to Kevadia to boosts connectivity to Statue of unity

On Sunday, PM Narendra Modi, flagged off 8 new trains to Gujarat’s Kevadia. These new projects will help in connecting different regions to Kevadia and will boost connectivity to Statue of Unity as well. PM said that this is a beautiful picture of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, launched the event on Sunday. He was accompanied by Railway Minister Piyush Goyal and Gujarat’s Chief Minister Vijay Rupani. The event launched 8 new trains connecting Kevadia in Gujarat to Varanasi, Dadar, Ahmedabad, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Rewa, Chennai and Pratapnagar. Several other projects relating to railways were also inaugurated in the programme.

While launching the event Prime Minister Modi said, “This is probably for the first time in the history of railways that so many trains from different locations of the country get flagged off to the same destination.”

Modi said that the connectivity will also help increasing job opportunities in the region.  “This connectivity will be beneficial for tourists coming to see the Statue of Unity but it will also help in changing the lives of the tribal community of Kevadiya. It will bring new opportunities for job and self-employment,” he said.

PM feels that this will be beneficial for tourism also, as he said, “More visitors are coming to the Statue of Unity than the Statue of Liberty. Kevadia is not a small place any more. It will become one of the most attractive tourist spots of the world.”

Quoting a survey, Modi said, “After improvement in connectivity, over 1 lakh people will come to visit Kevadiya every day.”

PM paid his tributes to Bharat Ratna MGR on his anniversary by saying, “One of the trains flagged off for Kevadia today originates at Puratchi Thalaivar Dr MG Ramachandran Central Railway Station. His life was dedicated to the service of the poor.”

PM remembered his old days and told how he used to take a narrow-gauge train, which was so slow that one could get on and off the train at any time.

According to Railways Minister Piyush Goyal, PM Modi’s leadership has added speed to India’s development. The Railway Minister congratulated Modi on the beginning of the vaccination drive.

The other new projects inaugurated at the event, include Dabhoi-Chandid gauge converted broad gauge rail line, Chandod-Kevadita new broad gauge rail line, Pratapnagar-Kevadiya newly electrified section, new station buildings of Dabhoi Junction, Chandod and Kevadiya.
