Mumbai cyber cell arrest man for morphing BJP leader’s photo
On Monday Mumbai cyber police said, a 26-year-old man has been arrested from Yavatmal for allegedly morphing pictures and sending lewd texts to a vice president of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Maharashtra unit.
On 2nd March, a Maharashtra BJP leader filed a complaint against a person who was sending her lewd messages and uploaded her morphed photographs on social media. During the past few days he threatened the BJP leader with dire consequences. On Monday, the Mumbai cyber police said that they have arrested a man in the case. The accused was identified as Rahul Tulsiram Ade.
The accused is a resident of Ghatanji in Yavatmal district. Deputy Commissioner of cyber police, Dr Rashmi Karandikar informed that a police team nabbed him from Yavatmal on Sunday.
The 46 year old BJP leader said that she took a stand on death by suicide of a young woman from Pune and blamed a Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) minister for her death. After her claims, someone started sending her vulgar messages.
She said in her complain, “I have received threat calls and even a video message threatening to kill me in the past few days. Also, my photos were morphed and they were uploaded on social media with vulgar and obscene messages.”
The complainant provided the police with the details of the person. After she filed the complaint, the police traced the IP address of the system used and mobile phone location of the accused.
The accused was then arrested on Sunday.
Rahul Tulsiram Ade have been booked under Indian Penal Code and Information Technology Act for stalking (section 354D), word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman (section 509) and criminal intimidation (section 506) and 67 (publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form) of information Technology Act.
On Sunday, the local court remanded Ade in police custody till March 13.
