Karnal lathicharge: The administration suspended the Internet from midnight; the police strengthened security
The Karnal regional administration announced that it will suspend Internet services starting at 12:30 am on Tuesday (September 7), a few hours before farmers hear the so-called “gherao” against the police action on August 28.
Judge Nishant Kumar Yadav stated that all forms of Internet telecommunications services (2G / 3G / 4G / CDMA / GPRS), SMS services and dongle services provided on mobile networks will be suspended.
He said that after the government held a meeting on Monday to discuss security arrangements, he said that the mobile network will only allow voice calls, and farmers are expected to call the small Gherao secretariat on September 7.
The district administration has implemented Article 144 of the Criminal Procedure Law in Kanal, prohibiting public gatherings, and the police have strengthened security in the area. The district police also announced a detour in response to the protests.
“Police are fully alert over the gherao call and all security measures have been beefed up to prevent any untoward incident. In addition to making all arrangements, close coordination is also being maintained with civil administration for handling the law and order situation,” he said.
It should be noted that Samyukta Kisan Morcha, who is leading farmers’ agitation against the three agricultural laws, called on the Secretariat to register a gherao, requesting the FIR to be registered with officials who allegedly ordered lathicharge on the blender. He protested against the BJP activities held in Kanal on August 28.
“All measures would be taken to contain any kind of untoward incidents and safety of citizens,” Virk said.
At the same time, the ML Khattarled government ordered the suspension of mobile internet services in the Karnal district to prevent misinformation and rumors from spreading through social media. Mobile internet service in the Karnal district has been suspended from Monday to Tuesday at 12:30 midnight. The district administration also issued a prohibition order based on Article 144 of the CrPC, prohibiting gatherings of five or more people, and issued a traffic advisory on planned route detours.
According to a Haryana police advisory, main National Highway No 44 (Ambala-Delhi) may also see some traffic disruptions in the Karnal district on Tuesday.
