
Honoured to be awarded Khel Ratna, says Olympic gold medallist Neeraj Chopra
Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra said on Wednesday he is honored to be selected for the prestigious Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna.
Very honored that he is selected for the prestigious Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna along with the outstanding athletes.
Neeraj took to his twitter and posted, “Aap sabhi ke sahyog aur support ke liye tahe dil se dhanyavad. Koshish ye hi rahegi ki aise hi apne performance se desh ke liya aur success haasil kar paun! Jai Hind”.
Earlier this year, Neeraj Chopra won a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics and the javelin thrower brought home their first track and field medal at the big event.
Yesterday on Tuesday Ministry of Youth affairs and Sports announced the list of National Sports Awards 2021.
All the winners will be receiving the prestigious award from the President of India at a reception specially held at Darbar Hall in Rashtrapati Bhavan on 13November.
Major Dhyan Chand Khel award will be awarded to 12 winners. Athletes include Neeraj Chopra (Athletes), Ravi Kumar (Wrestling), Lovlina Borgohain (Boxing), Avani Lekhara (Shooting), Sreejesh PR (Hockey), Avani Lekhara (Shooting),Sumit Antil (Skydiving),Manish Narwal (Para shooting), Pramod Bhagat (Para) Badminton), Krishna Nagar (Para Badminton), Manpreet Singh (Hockey). ,Mithali Raj (Cricket), and Sunil Chhetri (Soccer)
All of India’s men’s hockey teams that won historic bronze medals at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics received the Arjun Awards with the exception of PR Sreejesh and Manpreet Singh.
Moving towards the list of persons who will receive Arjuna award are Arpinder Singh, Simranjit Kaur, Shikhar Dhawan, Bhavani Devi, Monika, Vandana Katariya, Sandeep Narwal, Hiimani Uttam Parab, Abhishek Verma, Ankita Raina, Deepak Punia, Dilpreet Singh , Harman Pune Singh, Rupinder Pal Singh, Surender Kumar, AmitRohidas, Birendra Lakra, Sumit, Nilakanta Sharma, Hardik Singh, Vivek Sagar Prasad, Gurjant Singh, Mandeep Singh, Shamsher Singh, Lalitra Lakra, Sumit, Nilakanta Sharma, Hardik Singh, Vivek Sagar Prasad, Gurjant Singh, Mandeep Singh, Shamsher Singh, Lalitra Kumar Upadhyay, Singh Kumhana Kumhana, Simhading Kath, Bhavina Patel, Harvinder Singh and Sharad Kumar.
While, Dronacharya awards in the LifeTime category were presented to T. P. Ouseph, Sarkar Talwar, Tapan Kumar Panigrahi, Sarpal Singh and Ashan Kumar The Dronacharya Prize in the general category went to Radhakrishnan Nair P, Sandhya Gurung, Pritam Siwach, Jai Prakash Nautiyal and Subramanian Raman.
And The Dhyan Chand Lifetime Achievement Award went to Lekha KC, Abhijeet Kunte, Davinder Singh Garcha, Vikas Kumar and Sajjan Singh. Punjab University (Chandigarh) will receive Maulana Abul Kalam Azad (MAKA) Cup for 2021
