Earthquake in Delhi and neighbouring areas
On Friday, an earthquake measured at magnitude 6.1 on Richter scale was felt across North India including Delhi. National Centre of Seismology said that the epicenter was in Amritsar, Punjab at a depth of 10 km from the surface.
Strong tremors felt in the national capital and its neighbouring regions. Delhi, the National Capital Region (NCR) and several other parts of north India at 10.34pm felt the tremors. The earthquake created panic among people due to which people rushed out of their houses.
Initial reports suggest the earthquake in Amritsar coincided with a stronger earthquake that struck Tajikistan. The magnitude of the Tajikistan earthquake was reportedly 7.1 on the Richter Scale.
So far no reports have been made regarding any damage or injuries due to the earthquake.
People were seen on roads as the earthquake hit Punjab twice.
Strong tremors were also reported from Pakistan and Afghanistan.
