KKR were cruising at 123 for 1 in 15.5 overs but from there they suffered a stunning batting collapse, where Nitish Rana (13) was out in the 16th over, last ball, was followed by the Gill four balls later. There was no panic in the KKR camp before Dinesh Kartik`s (0) dismissal in of the 18th over, final ball, sent alarm bells.
KKR needed only 10 runs from the last two overs but Anrich Nortje has removed KKR captain Eoin Morgan (0) in the 19th over, with the final ball, leaving KKR seven runs to get from the final over and Shakib Al Hasan (0) and Sunil Narine (0) then crashed out on the third and fourth throws before Tripathi hit Ashwin with six points on the fifth, helping KKR secure a stunning win at the end.
This will be the KKR’s 3rd appearance after winning the title in 2014 and 2012. They have just managed to sneak into the playoffs at the expense of five-time Indian defenders in Mumbai.
