Dil Bechara fame Sanjana Sanghi to star in horror-comedy Stree’s prequel titled Munjha
Bollywood actress Sanjana Sanghi has been signed for the prequel of horror-comedy Stree. The forthcoming movie will be titled Munjha and will star Sanjana in the titular role.
Dil Bechara fame actress Sanjana Sanghi already has couple of projects in her kitty. According to latest update, she has been finalised for the prequel of Shraddha Kapoor starrer 2017 movie Stree. The movie is titled Munjha and will be the last standalone film in the horror-comedy universe.
Munjha will be the directorial debut of director Sriram Raghavan‘s assistant, Yogesh Chandekar. Stree and Bhediya’s director Amar Kaushik will also be a part of the project. Munjha is likely to go on floor towards the end of this year.
Dinesh Vijan Maddock films started the horror comedy universe back in the year 2017. Producer Dinesh released Stree starring Rajkummar Rao—Shraddha Kapoor, followed by 2020’s Roohi featuring Rajkummar Rao, Janhvi Kapoor, and Varun Sharma. After Roohi, 2022’s Bhediya with Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon was added in the universe. Now the makers are set to add one last standalone film namely Munjha in this universe. The makers want to establish all these characters and have them cross paths with each other.
The lead role in Munjha was initially offered to Alia Bhatt, but later on Sanjana was finalised.
Last year Sanjana Sanghi made her debut as a lead with Dil Bechara opposite Sushant Singh Rajput. The movie was released directly on OTT. She had earlier featured in movies like Fukrey returns, Hindi medium and Rockstar. However Dil Bechara got her a lot of attention for her work.
In just a year, Sanjana has successfully bagged two feature films — action-thriller film Om: The Battle Within opposite Aditya Roy Kapur and Munjha. Sanjana’s forthcoming movie Om: The Battle Within will hit cinemas this summer. The movie was announced in December 2019 and is supposed to be about the battle that goes on within the self and the difficulty of choosing the higher path.
