The Chief Minister has also quarantined himself to avoid the danger of the virus. Last year in June, The CM Arvind Kejriwal had reported the Covid-19 symptoms with a sore throat and fever, but tested negative.
Today on the same morning Kejriwal appealed to public to stay safe and at home during a week lockdown in Delhi imposed on Monday to break the increasing chain of the coronavirus.
Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, “A week lockdown in Delhi has started today. This decision has been taken in view of your health and safety. Kindly cooperate with the government and stay home to keep yourself safe from the infection.
Kejriwal said that the condition might fall down if strict action was not taken as the capital of India is becoming one of the worst hit state after Maharashtra, although it has not collapsed yet.
Delhi has recorded over 25,500 fresh cases over last week, while positivity rate shot up to 29.74% which means every third person who is getting tested is becoming positive.
The Capital is under a six day lockdown followed up by a weekend curfew which was imposed on Friday to curb the rising number of positive cases of Covid-19. Earlier, Kejriwal had also enforced night curfew from 10 pm to 5 am. After the Weekend curfew, The CM Arvind Kejriwal announced this six day lockdown on Monday till 5 am on April 26 and the essential services would continue to operate.
