Bunty Aur Babli 2 release postponed due to Covid cases
Amid the rising corona cases in the country, the makers of Rani Mukerji, Saif Ali Khan starrer Bunty Aur Babli 2 have decided to postpone the release of the movie which was set to release on 23rd April.
Bunty Aur Babli 2 is the sequel to the 2005 blockbuster, Bunty Aur Babli. The movie features Rani Mukerji, Saif Ali Khan, Siddhant Chaturvedi and debutante Sharvari in the lead. The movie is being helmed by Varun Sharma who worked as an Assistant Director in YRF’s biggest blockbusters Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai.
It is being bankrolled by Aditya Chopra. The movie was all set to release on 23rd April this year.
Recent updates reveal that the Producer of the movie, Aditya has decided to postpone the release of the film. The release date has been postponed because of the surge noted in the number of novel coronavirus cases across the country. The rising cases is said to be the second wave which has prompted the government to impose new restrictions. Many parts of India have announced lockdowns and curfew to stop the spread of the virus. The producer of the movie wants hold the film and put it in theatres at a more opportune time.
According to the trade sources the decision to postpone the movie makes complete sense and is a correct move made by the makers.
Yash Raj Films has not yet announced the new release date.
Touted to be a family movie, Bunty Aur Babli 2 will introduce the audience with an incredibly fresh pair as the new talented conmen. Gully boy fame Siddhant Chaturvedi is the new bunty whereas stunningly gorgeous debutant Sharvari will play the role of Babli. The movie also features Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherjee as the original Bunty Aur Babli in the film.
Last year in September, Saif, Rani, Siddhant and debutante Sharvari wrapped up the shoot for Bunty Aur Babli 2.
The original 2005 Bunty and Babli starred Abhishek Bachchan and Rani in the lead roles, along with Amitabh Bachchan in a pivotal role.
