BJP workers does not get infected with Coronavirus as they work hard: Gujarat MLA
On Sunday, a Gujarat BJP MLA said workers of his party do not get infected with novel coronavirus since they work hard. This was the MLA’s reply to reporters asking about the rising corona cases in the state.
On Sunday, reporters questioned Rajkot (South) legislator Govind Patel about his take on the spike of cases due to flouting of guidelines by political leaders and workers during poll campaigning. The BJP MLA claimed, “Those who work hard do not get coronavirus infection. BJP workers work hard, and therefore, not a single worker has been infected with the virus.”
Incidentally, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani tested positive for corona during the campaigning for the local bodies polls last month. Not only the CM but also others in the ruling party tested positive at different points of time. These include state unit chief CR Paatil and several MLAs.
On Saturday, Vadodara BJP MP Ranjanben Bhatt also announced that she was admitted in hospital due to Covid-19.
On the other hand, State Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel clearly refused that local polls as well as the Test and T20I cricket matches in Ahmedabad were the reasons behind the Covid-19 spike.
He said, “Elections are held as per the requirement under the Constitution. Cricket matches were limited to only Ahmedabad. There was no cricket match or election in Maharashtra, but it accounts for the highest number of cases, nearly 50 percent of the country’s daily cases.”
Patel further said that people can come to any conclusion on the recent surge but the reality is that the surge was people’s collective responsibility. People should follow the guidelines inorder to control the pandemic.
