‘Badhaai Do’, starring Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar, has unveiled its long-awaited teaser. The comic drama, directed by Harshvardhan Kulkarni, is about two persons in their 30s who enter a marriage of convenience to keep their sexual orientation a secret. On February 11th, the film Badhaai Do will be released in theatres.
Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar recently told their fans that their Badhaai Do secret is ready to be revealed, and now that secret is known to all. Rajkummar and Bhumi’s characters are forced to comply with societal norms in their film, which is depicted in a very funny way.
Bhumi plays Sumi, a physical education instructor, while Rajkummar plays Shardul, a cop. They cross paths and decide to marry for the sake of their families. When Sumi’s girlfriend enters the picture, the situation becomes complicated. The comedy of errors appears to be a roller coaster of emotions as well.
The makers of Badhaai Do, which is a Badhaai Ho franchise, released the trailer today. The film marks the first time Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar have worked together on the big screen.
While Badhaai Ho showed us how a middle-aged couple’s love may lead to some humorous events, Badhaai Do appears to be tackling another such unique relationship and telling their story through a comedy of errors.
The teaser depicts Rajkummar and Bhumi in a marital setting, but it soon becomes clear that there are many secrets between them to be revealed. Getting into a marriage of convenience and living as roommates leads to amusing scenarios between the two, making this one a family entertainer.
This family drama not only has a lot of laughs and tears, but it also tackles a socially pertinent topic, which we got a glimpse of in the teaser. While not much is known about the plot, the film’s central theme is depicting “lavender marriage.”
In addition to Rajkummar and Bhumi, the film features an ensemble cast that includes performers such as Seema Pahwa, Sheeba Chadha, Chum Darang, Lovleen Mishra, Nitish Pandey, and Shashi Bhushan, among others, who play crucial roles and propel the story along.
The film’s music is composed by Amit Trivedi, Tanishk Bagchi, Ankit Tiwari, and Khamosh Shah, under Zee Music’s label. Varun Grover, Vayu, Anurag Bhumia, Azeem Shirazi, and Anvita Dutt wrote the lyrics.
Harshavardhan Kulkarni directed the film while it was written by Akshat Ghildial and Suman Adhikary. Badhaai Do will be released in theatres globally on February 11th, with Zee Studios handling the theatrical distribution.
