Ajay Devgan to go bald for period drama, ‘Chanakya’
Due to the lockdown, the shooting of Ajay Devgan starrer ‘Chanakya’ was delayed. But according to the recent update the movie is still on cards.
The announcement of the film “Chanakya” featuring Ajay Devgan, was made few years back. But the because of the pandemic it was put on hold. The pre-production of the project was going on when the Covid crisis hit India. Hence, like every other field, this movie was also put on the back burner.
Ajay Devgan will play the role of the royal advisor to the Mauryan emperor Chandragupta as the movie is based on the ancient Indian Philosopher. According to reports, Ajay Devgan will go bald for his role in the period drama. This means the actor will not be able to shoot any other project while filming for Chanakya.
The director Neeraj Pandey had worked on this script for the past two years and while the lockdown was going on he coordinated with his team and worked from home. He confirmed that Ajay needs to stay true to the character and said, “It’s simple, really. Ours is a period film and Ajay will have to look the part.”
Writer-lyricist Manoj Muntashir said, “Chanakya has been delayed due to the pandemic. Ajay only resumed filming in November and will wrap up his prior commitments before working on this. We should roll in the last quarter of 2021.”
He further added to his statement that he and Neeraj travelled across India as part of research. For more than a year they travelled and read books of Chanakya before finalizing the script. The writer feels that the film is Oscar worthy and is way too precious to be shelved.
Apart from Chanakya, Ajay’s future projects consist of ‘Maidaan’ in which he plays the football coach Syed Abdul Rahim and the other project is ‘Bhuj: The Pride of India’.
Ajay Devgan was last seen in the movie ‘Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior’ by Om Raut, which received record breaking collection at the box office with loads of positive reviews.
